Wedding News: The Wedding Community

I'm very excited to announce that there's a new bridal community arriving on the scene in early November, a site packed with ideas, advice, inspiration and planning tools! Owners Kim and David Herbing came to say hello at the National Wedding Show and invited me to become their Wedding Design and Creation expert-of course I accepted!
I've had a sneaky peek at the format and it's got a really fresh vibe to it. The team of experts includes May Clee-Cadman of Maisie Fantaisie, Kate Smallwood of Wedding Magazine, Claire Yarwood White and more.

Let me know what you all think of it once it's gone live-feedback is always appreciated!

Where Have I Been?!

My sincerest apologies to all my faithful followers, for I have been so busy there has been little time for blogging and it has therefore been rather neglected (forgive me?) Wedding planning really had taken me over and what with consultations, re-working the business and general life, it's been tricky to keep on top of it all!

Over the last month or so I have been busy filming the new show reel for the Luella's Boudoir Bridal Directory and Planning Services. We had a fabulously productive day with some of our favorite suppliers (photographed by the legendary Julia Boggio above). We started the day early with our trusty wedding videographer Alan Howard of The Wedding Documentary Company and I made my debut in front of the camera. You are NOT allowed to laugh at me when we post it up-there is a good reason why I chose a career behind the scenes! It was a brilliant day full of catching up and playing around and I can't wait to show you all the finished product once it's complete next month.

Luella's took their usual stand at the October National Wedding Show and this time there was so much more on offer. In addition to the bespoke bridesmaids range and accessories, we now had the new Luella's Boudoir and Shane Ryding bridal collections to shout about as well as the newly launched Bridal Directory and so on. Being right next to the catwalk area the stand was always busy with brides eager to try on some of the gorgeous collections on offer by Magpie Vintage, Emmy Shoes, The Real Princess Company, Yarwood White and of course, yours truly was on hand to talk over any planning issues.

Watch this space for more news my lovelies!

Eye Candy #22: Karin Akesson at Emily&Jo

Emily&Jo never miss the mark when it comes to authentically designed vintage stationery. Recently, the girls have been beavering away collaborating with other designers and illustrators to create a fresh, new collection. This green and white bird creation is by Karin Akesson, a Swedish designer whose work you'll recognize even if you've never heard of her before-her work has graced the likes of Habitat and Topshop. I'm told this design is already flying of the shelves and there's more to come. Love it!

Reasons To Be Cheerful

I was enjoying a leisurely breakfast with the Sunday papers (it was the Observer) when I came across an article about an incredibly exciting new event happening at Goodwood next August and I'm already counting down the days!

'Vintage at Goodwood' (celebrating 5 decades of British cool) is the brain child of designers Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway MBE, a vintage festival that dreams are made of. Not only can you immerse yourself in everyday life from the 1940s to 1980s (not too bothered about that decade though!) but you can also experience and wear the fashion and hair styles, eat the food (all freshly prepared and organic) learn to dance to the music of each era AND do it all glamping! Then there's the cinema where you can watch all the classics, the vintage market to pick up a bargain and the fairground for a few hours of unadulterated vintage fun.

Be sure to sign up on the website so you'll be the first to know when the tickets go on sale...and I'll see you there with bells on. Eeeeeek!!!!

Surprise! A Birthday Afternoon Tea: Part 2

And now for the details...

The nibbles...

Mmmmmmm baklava!

Champagne with Hibiscus flowers. Loving the vintage coup glass!

Here we are, a motley crew...

A chocolate and pistachio cake, completely butter free made with courgettes!

Surprise! A Birthday Afternoon Tea: Part 1

At the beginning of the month we celebrated mum's 50th birthday (and she won't mind me saying because she's gorgeous!)
It took several months of planning...and if I'm honest I started it almost as soon as we'd got back from honeymoon to fill that void post wedding blues brings! She's as sharp as a tack is mum, so it took some scheming with family, friends and colleagues to get this one past her. We did it though and to prove it I'm sharing the pictures with you taken by my very talented baby brother.

Here's her reaction when she was steered into the garden by my sister with her eyes covered...

One Year On...

Yesterday was our very first wedding anniversary. A day of mixed emotions for me I have to say, I felt incredibly happy and rather weepy all day! In the morning a beautiful parcel arrived from my step-sister, a handmade album full of our wedding keepsakes such as the Bride and Groom place cards I'd made that I thought had been thrown away and messages and photos from my bridal shower. Such a wonderful surprise.

I'm spending the rest of the day remembering our exciting honeymoon journey and wishing we could do it all again!
Thank you to my wonderful husband for allowing me to do what I love and for being my best friend. Can't wait to see what next year brings!
