...in floral blush.
This piece is for Charlotte who recently contacted me looking for inspiration for her own wedding-a 1950s garden party in July next year. I hope you find this useful Charlotte!
The best thing about this time of year is that all the colour really starts coming into play in fashion, giving you the artistic license to really go for it.
Not to get stuck down the route of pastels again (although I'm absolutely in love with them at the moment!) you really can't go wrong with this for a 50s look. I've picked out a floral design to compliment the garden aspect of Charlotte's day. The scooped neckline of the tea dress is quintessentially 50s along with the short sleeves and you can easily add a net petticoat underneath if you desire extra volume.
To accessorize, I've brought in a silk hair corsage with can be tied around a simple pony tail worn high, or around a bun. You could also use a hairband or pill box hat here if you wish. A simple pearl necklace echos the neckline of the dress and helps to bring that 50s look together.
For a modern touch, I chose a pair of peep-toe Mary-Janes in a blush pink. You can also try a flat pump if you wish.
To complete this look, a bouquet of beautiful garden flowers could not be better, especially the sweet pea which gives off the most intoxicating scent.
All the best Charlotte and if you're getting married and looking for inspiration for your bridesmaids, just drop me an email!
