Deco Invitations

Just to round off the beautiful Art Deco wedding featured below, I thought I would share the invitation designs with you, created by my very clever brother Rhys Grant. Miriam and Bruce were keen to have a design that reflected the theatrical element of their evening, something to get their guests thinking, so Rhys took inspiration from old posters of the 1920s and 30s era and came up with the first design (see above).

However, having seen some of the old review posters, many made a song and dance with font and simple print, so we decided to paint the picture with some ritzy wording, using a simple black, cream and brown color way...and ta dah! It certainly got the guests talking!

Real Weddings: Puttin' On The Ritz

It's taken the best part of two months to finally share this stunning wedding with you, but I promise you, it's well worth the wait! When I first met Miriam in May last year I knew this was going to be a vintage wedding with a difference-especially as we shared a passion for Art Deco! At The Brickhouse in London's Brick Lane, we recreated a speakeasy, complete with bootlegged cocktails, gambling tables and plenty of saucy burlesque!

It's all in the detail-and there were plenty of those! I had a wonderful time designing the black and white dessert table and cheese stack...Yes, I did say cheese-Miriam and Bruce are real foodies and it made a great accompaniment for the bowl food served throughout the evening. Thanks to Ian at The Cheese Shed for helping put together a delicious selection for us!

Let's not forget the goodies for the guests-mini bottles of Jack Daniels and gambling chocolates for the gents and a black or white feather fan for the ladies...

The guests really went to town with their attire and made the night all the more special.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Reid! It's been a blast!
